Default New M1-108

For those who care or are interested. Mobil has changed the manufacturer (or so it seems) of their oil filters. Looks like a Purolator. Old version, as we know, was Champ labs.

New on left (when you click on images) Increase in can size and filter media. Different bypass and stiffer compression spring. Im my view, a better quality filter.

The new one is taller? That could be a problem for me at least, there's like a 1/8" gap between my current m1-108 and my oil cooler lines, a taller filter flat out would not work.

Ya I'd say about 1/4-1/2" taller. Obviously to provide space for wider media which is 5/8" wider now! (1-5/8" or 1.625")

I can try and measure for you if you like?

What oil filter is shortest in length?

I assume these are all roughly the same, but if one can shave off a few centimeters, that's what I need. The thermostatic plate for the oil cooler makes it a really tight fit up there with the OEM Nissan filter.

If the Royal Purple and Amsoil have not changed supplier, they should be the same height as old M1-108. (same equivalent )

Just opened up the NAPA Gold version (1358) from my Murano (same filter as 370).

Looks just like the New Mobil 1 as shown in my op. Does not look anything like WIX as they used to be. ( No coil spring and different bypass)

Only difference i see is Rubber anti-drain valve vs silicon on M1 filter. Also, the pleats dont seem to be as tight and secured as the M1.

So for same price, or little more, I'd stick with M1 filter.

Sorry no pics as it would be redundant.

mobil 1 m1-110 / m1-110a was already a taller/higher capacity version of the old m1 108. i've used the m110 on a g37 for years. i always thought the m108 was too small for the vq37 anyway.

Exactly why I've used Purolator from day 1.
