Auto Trans Fluid Change?
Nisson wants to do a transmission fluid change. My 2010 370Z has 40K. They tell me they do a flush with a machine. Is this safe or will it create problems?

Tons of info on this subject. I know it's too much to ask for, but maybe try searching for once instead of starting a new thread?
The dealer uses CONSULT-III machine to read the trans fluid temp from the ECU in order to get the fill level correct. Ask Nissan why they are suggesting a transmission fluid flush when the AT fluid is supposedly lifetime. Not that you don't need a flush (some AT guys flush every 20-30K with good results). But my guess is they have no clue the actual condition and are just trying to sell you more service.

OP no need for a new thread. I highly subjest not using a machine it can be dangerous and harm your transmission. At 40K simply flush and fill and repeat the process again if the transmission fluid is still not a bright red color. Do a flush and fill every 20K-30K miles or every three years and your transmission should operate normally. The Nissan dealership service department you are going to may be trying to damage/harm your transmission and offer you extra service for no reason. I know several people here that changed their fluid at 50K and 60K and the transmission fluid looked a very dark color and degraded. Find a reputable transmission shop or driveline shop that you trust to have them change your transmission fluid for you if you can't do it yourself. Also be sure the proper transmission fluid is being used for your service.

I drain fill the transmission, drive 10-20 miles and repeat the process one or two times whatever is needed until the transmission fluid is clean. Drain plug is a 19mm hex and located at the rear of the pan and the pan "overfill" fill plug is 5mm allenrear the front of the transmission. Some dirty fluid will probably come out on the first drain. I recommend using the proper Nissan Matic-S transmission fluid. It's just at 4 quarts for a drain and fill FYI. Your transmission will shift better on each service.

The proper fill level for the 7AT transmission fluid is based on the volume of fluid at a specific temperature. The temperature of the fluid affects the volume since it expands as it heats up. There is not an easy way to get a trans fluid temp readout without the CONSULT-III machine hooked up to the car. It can cause issues if overfilled or underfilled so it's best to have a good idea of the fluid temp when doing a flush.

When I took my 7at G37 in for a AT fluid change, the service advisor actually double checked with me that I wanted it done as the 7at is supposedly lifetime.

For now I scan the trans pan and aftermarket cooler (OE cooler deleted) entry with a infrared temp. gun and average the 2.
