Service Engine Soon.....Ignition coil Part Ii
ItI had this happen recently. Service Engine Light.......Replace Ignition Coils
First time I cleaned the mass air sensors and throttle bodies and it corrected the issue.....Today it happened again. Today it was just 2 codes repeated 3 times. P0300 : Random Misfire Detected P0303 : Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected Not sure if I should just replace it. And by chance could cold weather possibly cause this? Diagnostic procedures are in the FSM (link in sig). If procedure requires CONSULT (high-$$ diagnostic system), you can usually find something on the Internet that uses normal shop tools.

If you are getting misfires to a specific cylinder, it's either the spark plug or the ignition coil.
FWIW, when an ignition coil goes bad you will know. Your engine will run incredibly rough. |

Move the coils around and see if the code follows it.

I'd start by adding a fuel cleaner with your next tank of gas. Sometimes that helps. Also depending on your miles, maybe it's time for a tune-up. I'd replace all the plugs and see what happens. And it wouldn't hurt to replace the ignition coil in the No. 3 cylinder. |
