Shell Rotella T6 5W-40?
Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience running this oil. I'm currently running Mobil 1 10w40. FI long tube headers that get rid of the cats (I live in Florida- no emissions check). Oil cooler and baffled oil pan with greater capacity (about 6.5qt compared to the standard 5). Only downsides I can find to using diesel oil are potentially poisoning the cats. And I was hoping for a more stable oil that can withstand high temps and possibly burn off less. That being said, with my current set up I rarely get over 180F, and drop about half way on the dip stick about every 2500 miles. Any input is appreciated. Thanks -James |

IMO, the cold/winter weight should be kept the same as factory recommendation especially in an area with warmer climate like FL. I use Mobil1 0w-40 in the Z to account for much colder winters in OH. I bump the second weight because my "fast cars" are usually driven enthusiastically and one is driven in autocross.

Bobistheoilguy forum should contain more objective data on this, if you want to research more.
I’ve heard T6 being used by turbo guys on other platforms. Nothing else to add, best of luck

That's what my tuner wants me to run in mine. It's good, easily available and cheap. What's not to like?

Back in the 80's and 90's that was the go to oil for turbo guys. The formula was changed in 2007 and then again in 2014 due to diesel emission standards but it still works well and is a cheap alternative to a fully synthetic oil.

About an hour 30. What's nice, I can make a pit stop and not leave it.
