Default Are gearbox synchro's replaceable?

My gearbox grinds when shifting into 5th gear with a cold engine. I read that its a common issue.

Can the synchro be replaced?

A new gearbox from Nissan is over 5.000 usd in my country and used gearboxes are not available, or available at 2.500-3.000 usd. Ive read many people received new gearboxes under warranty, but car is from 2010 so no chance there.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

A competent transmission specialist should be able to replace the synchros for you without issue.

Thank you. I have found a shop which indicates €400 for replacing the 5th gear synchro. Sounds good to me, so will drop the gearbox off at the end of the month.

If you are going to disassemble most of the transmission to replace one synchro, I'd look into replacing all the synchros and any other parts that may have worn. Ie, go ahead and rebuild it. YMMV
