Default Gallery Gasket Questions

Alright so im attempting to do my gallery gasket soon and im getting a whole list of new parts to swap out, oem and aftermarket. If you guys have any recommendations do feel free to let me know ill list them down below. Now my question is im going to be buying a new primary chain since it’s coming off anyways and I want to swap out the water pump too since i am already in there. Now the new oem primary timing chain does not come with the colored markings (Z1 has told me when i asked) Now how am I supposed to put the motor back into time if it doesn’t have any of the colored markings? Do the colored markings matter with a new chain? Or does the chain have dimples in it to make sure you can time it out? Im at 93k at the moment thats why i figured id swap it out. Also before i take the tension off of the chain is there anything else that I should do? Should i put the motor in tdc? If so how would I do that? Is it just cranking the motor by hand and checking cylinder #1 until its at the top?

Parts list:
Eps tuning upgraded gallery gaskets
Timing cover gasket kit from z1
Oem water pump
thermostat housing with thermostat and gasket
oem crank pulley bolt
oem serp belt
czp upgraded fasteners
Oem timing kit, All tensioners, guides, crank seal, crank sprocket
Z1 high pressure radiator cap
z1 silicone rad hose set
z1 silicone rad overflow hose set

I would grab the new OEM gallery gasket plus Z1's hardware. IMO it's better to stick with the updated metal reinforced composite gaskets as they're the best at the moment.

The new OEM primary chain does come with new markings, there's no way the sell it without the marks.

Everything on your list is great, but I personally haven't seen any of the guides, chains, or tensioners fail on these. It's definitely not much over keeping them but just keep that in mind.

One thing that I would definitely change is the actual CAM pulley or whatever its called. I diagnosed this weird issue on 2 09 370Zs, where the cam encoder would fail and cause the car to run funny or not run at all.

Time the engine property 1st, just make sure intake manifold or a throttle body is off to let the engine breathe while you crank, don't use a torque gun, you can use the chain w/o the markings but you need the old one as reference to paint new ones, make sure to triple check the chain rings count between each mark.

Also make sure to clean off the very last peace of gasket off the galley cover.

LMAO it just occurred to me that you are not reading the manual, you can find one on this site or just Google for one, and open the engine mechanical section engine cover removal, make sure to read it all and follow the instructions.

Why would you recommend parts that are subpar to the EPS kit that he already listed? The upgraded gallery gaskets from Nissan are not better than the EPS gaskets. And I certainly wouldn't trust Z1's hardware

I actually just did after seeing your response. I searched the gates racing belt and reviews of it. Seems like a solid belt compared to oem. I was comparing prices online and found it for like $104 from conceptz, but rockauto had it for $60 shipped! Conceptz is great because they have a price match feature on their website so i used that and got it for $60 shipped from them!

CZP price match made the last several purchases for me very satisfying. They couldn't price match a few random OEM parts from random online retailers, but the prices they could match and their own savings on a few other parts made it well worth purchasing everything from them at once

Highly recommend spending more now than extra in labor down the road. Do everything you can. Seems like you have a solid plan together.

Grab the FSM. Print out the 150 or so relevant pages from the FSM. Read them over and over and perfect your approach before you start removing things. It will save a lot of pain, frustration, and medical billZ.
