Default Hole in block, where's the built motor guys?

Hey guys,

My Motor blew up on the dyno, looking at anyone who has a built motor, what is everyone recommending to do? Thinking about getting another 2nd handy block and replacing the pistons/rings/rods/arp head stud kit, anything else needed for a decent build? I'm boosted on a stillen kit/upgraded air to air kit and blower upgraded etc.. running E85. Already have S1.SE fuel kit etc..

Cheers any help appreciated

What power did it blow up at? I honestly believe that stock blocks are more reliable than built ones if you're not pushing over 500~ish WTQ, especially the 2014+ motors.

I bet that your motor was either hurt already, or the tuner doesn't know what he's doing.

Nothing huge just over 300KW, it had been maxed out at 325kw with maf's, then fuel pump, so maybe it was already hurt, had been boosted on stillen kit for 4-5 years originally. Spat a rod and hole in the block.

what's different with the 2014+? I may just look to get another stocko and bolt it in and away we go again.

Still waiting on exact graph's but the shops done plenty of boosted Z's before so don't think it is their fault at the moment.

So Dyno destroyed your engine.

Probably would not have happened with normal driving.

The curse of the Dyno....

Would that normally cause an engine to throw a rod?

That typically caused by over revving, metal fatigue or bearing failure due to lack of lubrication.

I would definitely grab a newer motor and have it tuned by a shop that specializes in 370Zs. No need for a built motor unless you're chasing 450+KWs

The search engine here is a joke and a waste of time. If you value your time and want decent results go to google, duckduckgo type in Site:the370z.com Your search criteria here. It will return threads that are actually relevant first and not just have the word 'the' or 'built' in it. That at least wont frustrate the hell out of someone when told to Search.
