I'm currently deployed so family is watching my car driving it weekly or so to make sure nothing is wrong with it. They went to drive it today and found that the car would beep if you try to shift from first to second in manual mode and that it wont shift from 3rd to 4th and so in D. Any suggestions? Car is being taken to a friend who is a Nissan mechanic to see if he knows.

Your Nissan mechanic should be able to figure it out, especially if they have access to Nissan's CONSULT diagnostics computer (an OBD tool on steroids).

It may be as simple as the shifter position sensor out of adjustment.

If your brother (or any other Non-Nissan mechanic) is going to do the work, the FSM is available at the link in my sig. Download yourself a copy for future reference.
