While a larger filter is better (assuming filter material and construction are the same), if you do regular, frequent changes with high quality oil and filter, it's not going to make much difference. Plus larger filters can be difficult to R&R. But if you are finicky and want to get every possible mile out of your engine (and it will physically fit in the space), go for it.

You disclosed no brand of the oil filter you purchased. Depending on what the media inside this oil filter is and the design of this oil filter is comparing to the Genuine Nissan oil filter your engine can benefit from the larger filtering area. Regardless of what oil filter you decide would be best to use as long as your changing your oil at the correct oil change intervals the health of your engine should be fine.

I don’t know what you expect to gain from a larger oil filter unless you’re looking for a little more dirt holding capacity due to extended oil change periods. If you’re planning to go longer between oil changes, then you have other more important issues you should worry about than oil filter size.
