Default Upper Radiator Hose

I plan to replace my upper radiator hose and I have what I'm sure is a very stupid question: With a cold engine that's been sitting long enough for the tstat to be closed, will there still be coolant in the upper radiator hose?

Be sure & test antifreeze before removal; in case you don’t plan to flush the system,,,this will let you know what to put back in (100%,50/50 or distilled water).

I was assuming that I can use the 50/50 blue from the dealer without worry.

You should be able to use 50/50 ... if the last person that filled the system used the proper ratio. Maybe they did. Maybe they didn't. You can get antifreeze checkers for about $5 at just about any parts store (you don't have to be all that accurate, so a cheapo will do).

I see what you mean about the previous owner. What information do the antifreeze checkers give you

How much antifreeze you have in your water. Most will indicate freezing point of your af/water mixture but this number is directly related to the concentration.
