Default New OS Giken LSD - Weird Noise???

So I just got a new OS Giken LSD installed.

So if you are at a stop and turning the wheel a bit and slowly go you get some clunkyness or what sounds like teeth engaging and then slipping but doesn't sound good. Only occurs when starting from stop with wheels turned as far as I can tell. I have hammered it in straight line and or dumped the clutch without any issues.

Other OS Giken LSD Owners is this normal. My mechanic said it was just wanted your guys opinion.

As far I can remember my osgiken made noises first few turns and then never heard it again. Osgiken recommends to change the gear oil for the first time after first few hundred miles after install. It is also important to put in os giken gear oil $$ due to theirs special additives to minimize any noises. Did you use it for yours?

Better have a sturdy pump; as a couple friends that recently left ZDAYZ have them.

Yes, it is normal to get the clunky/wobbling when you get the diff/tires warm. Rusty has it too. It is just a clutch type diff. Send it. If you do track days or the Dragon, get a diff cooler from MA Motorsports.

I did not, I bought the fully built rear-end from Z1 which they did not supply an option for OS Giken Fluid. However I have overnighted the fluid and will be replacing ASAP! Thanks

Are you serious? The entire purpose is for track days and now I need to get a diff cooler. WTF! I am tired of needing to upgrade everything on this Z to get it to the track and now I buy a brand new part I need to get a diff cooler for.
I am wondering if I should of bought something else now. 25000 for car and put 25000 into it and still need to add more just to track it, FML

You don't have to have it but you will be changing the diff fluid after every event because the fluid will be cooked. Clutch diffs generate lots of heat. You will save on fluid/wear and tear by getting the diff cooler. The diff is awesome by the way. Ask JarBlue. He road in my car on the Dragon in the wet. You could feel that sucker working it's magic. It is the best mod I have done by far.

Like Spooler said. I have the OS Giken too. At low speeds. It does make some flunky noises, and behaves differently then what you are used too. It will put the power down.

As for diff temps. I have a SpeedHut diff temp gauge installed. I can watch the diff temps. Driving to the Dragon this past weekend. 85 mph for hours on end on a 85F day. The most I seen was 255F. I have the MA Motorsports diff cooler installed. I turn the cooler pump and fan on. I watched the temps go from 255F to 185F. Driving on the Dragon. The most I seen was 215F in 11 miles.

Did you get the Z1 diff cover too? It holds an extra 1/2 quart or so.

Use the fluid for it. When you change it. Have a good hand pump. The stuff is thick. Some have used different lube in it. And have reported some issues will low speed operations being more pronounced.

Mine only makes noise at very slow speeds and light throttle. I also hear the tires skip on the pavement when making slow speed turns. Flawless when I'm pushing it. Spoke directly to OS Giken and they told me the Motul was fine as they've only done life tests with it and their gear oil. Figured I would pay a lot less and change it a little more. BTW, I've put 30k miles on mine so far.
