Fitting OE Oil to Water Cooler to 2009
Never mind!
Oil:Water Cooler I seem to have seen a post about this years ago but now can't find it with search. If this is possible does anyone have any idea what the gating items are mod-wise? I seem to remember that the piping and coolant flow on the 2009 was the issue. Any advice or thread anyone can direct me to I would sure appreciate. PS: Not looking for outboard oil cooler advice, I don't track, and if my temps are "seeming" too high I just let off and wait till cool down and no problems. I'm in FL so temps do get pretty high at times but never to limp mode levels. Just want a little peace of mind mod. Thanks! Last edited by Fountainhead; 03-23-2018 at 02:57 PM. |

After having deleted and reinstalled my OE oil/water cooler - I'd imagine adding one would be easy.. but you would not be able to mirror the OEM installation easily. The water inlet/outlets are added to the coolant hard lines on the drivers side of the block in models that came equipped.. changing those out would be problematic. However, adding tee's to some of the soft lines would be a pretty easy way to get some flow through the cooler. I'd study the flow diagrams in the pre/post FSM's to determine where to tap for the inlets and outlets.
The cooler itself is just a sandwich plate with coolant inlet and outlet nipples. You'll need the oil filter stud from a 12+ model to install it. I am only using the OE cooler in FL and I am TT...though I get a big assist from my performance oil pan. edit: crazy how expensive the units in that thread are... I am sure you could get an OEM take-off cooler and filter stud for cheap from someone who deleted theirs.

Dont do it... I deleted that crap after running nuclear... you need an oil cooler kit that involves a radiator...
