Loud ticking noises from engine bay, is this normal? or too loud? [VID]
Been searching around and can't really get a definitive answer. I've read that this engine generally makes a lot of noises. But I want to make sure mine is not making any alarming noises. Here's a video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKNJ...ature=youtu.be This is after a 20 minute drive on a 5 degree day (Canada) Car info: 2010 auto with a touring package, stock as far as I know (bought at 33k miles - 55k miles now) I removed the plastic cover on the bottom so you could hear better when I put the phone under the car, oil and filter changed recently (synthetic), and at the correct level according to the dipstick. Air filter also changed recently. No issues while driving, power is there, and don't hear any ticking unless I'm going through a drive through or something like that. I also should mention that a few weeks back I had problem trying to start my car. Went to start after a short drive and it began to start but wouldn't hold idle. Gave it gas the second time and it started right up without issues. At this point my air filters hadn't been changed (oil/filter 500km prior) and were at the very end of their life (i also have a dusty garage i start the car in) so I figured it could be that. Happened one more time on my way out of the local part store while getting the filters. Installed the new air filters and never had an issue since, even the other day when it was -17 celcius. Despite not having the problem since it's been worrying me, I'm thinking of going into Nissan and having them have the injectors cleaned/inspected along with the rest of the car but winter is coming and I'm just going to store the car away for the next 3-4 months so don't really want to do it until Spring unless there is reason to do so. Possibly valvetrain noise (VVEL is noisy by nature). Ester oil may make it quieter.

mine is exactly the same on a 14 plate , I think its the valve train or injectors , seems louder at the back of the engine. Cannot pin point where its coming from but from what I have read is normal

Yup, that's perfectly normal. The VVEL really likes to chatter.
I had an NTB tech tell me I had "spark knock" one time
