Default Just out of curiosity...

A buddy and I were talking about random engine swaps, most of which were unrealistic, but it did get me thinking. What's the largest engine you could fit in a Z? I wouldn't expect something outlandish like a Gen 5 Viper engine to fit, but what about a Gen 1? Or the LS7 from the 2015 Z/28? If I'm not mistaken, the LS series is notably smaller for its displacement, comparatively speaking, so that may not be the best example, but I'm just wondering since it's a 427 vs my guess that a lot of people opt for the 350.

No flaming necessary, just passing along thoughts and asking for information from those who know vastly more about the cans and can nots of this platform.

Anything is possible. How much money are you willing to spend.

Well, that's part of the problem. I don't really know what would be reasonable for a swap, but something that would be semi-clean. I know that if you get a new crate engine, you're easily looking at $15-25k for just the engine, and then extra parts, labor, and any custom work only runs it up from there. This is mostly just for fun and letting my imagination run wild, but once my car does get aged and the time comes, I would like to make it a full blown build.

Will do, but that's part of this question is what other options are there besides an LS or VK on the larger end of things that wouldn't require basically a total overhaul of the front end of the car. If that's where the limit is, that's all well and good, but that's what I'm wanting to know.

A big V8 from an Nissan Titan has been swapped with pretty good results...at least the car and the engine are from the same manufacturer.

I saw talk about it, but it seemed more were against it than not because of it being made for the truck, but I'm sure things could be changed to make it better suit the car and the way it will be driven versus a pickup.

Talking

All it takes is cubic money. A Viper V10 or a Ferrari V12 will fit. It's just how firewall you want to cut out, and how far back you want the engine to sit.

Is there any particular place you can find engine dimensions? I've tried to search for it and it just pulls up the car specs.
