Not as big of a difference as a pre-15' w/3.69:1 gearing...just 1 gear ratio lower. It would drop your 5th gear (1:1 ratio) by roughly just 6mph...vs 15/16mph for a Nismo going from 3.69:1---4.08:1.

Gears don't make torque, they make speed. The 4.08 gears would change your 0-60 time (acceleration) by 4% vs the Nismo 3.92 ratio. They will also increase your RPM at any given gear and speed combination by 4%. For me, that would mean about 125 RPM higher at 75 mph in top gear.

Correct. But gears do multiply torque.

Gearing available-3.36,3.54,3.69,3.90(3.92),4.08 & 4.36:1...lower the gear (higher number) quicker the hole-shot & slower mph on top-end....+ more rpm's & could mean more gasoline burned.

I went from 3.36 with a 12' 7AT G37 to the 3.69 rear from a 6MT 370z. The difference was immediate and well worth the pumpkin swap. I also did a carbon PST driveshaft with the swap but the gearing was a night and day difference. The only hickup was that I lost cruise control but I never used it anyway. And yes the FD gear on any car is a torque multiplier. Torque gives accelleration , hp gives you speed.

Honestly it's one of the best mods I have done.. the acceleration is night and day between them.. I wouldn't go back to stock gears

I myself would not install 4.08 gears unless you go to the track a lot or your 370z is more of a weekend warrior. I would not install 4.08 gears if you 370z is any kind of a daily driver. Your mpg will suffer with 4.08 gears. In your case I would keep the 3.92 gears that came stock in your 370z Nismo.

I would suggest keeping your current setup and spend the money on real LSD! This will improve traction, responsiveness and handling!

With all that being said; Going w/4.36's is gonna be your most noticeable change.
Your 5th gear will be reduced from approx.153mph down to 138mph. (calculated w/oem diameter rubber@redline.) 15mph.

You would have to cut the front as well 40-35. Cheaper than a gear-swap & potentially get you a set of track tires??
