Start with tightening your gas cap.

There are a ton of threads on this code, if you just perform a search. I know this, because my car has been throwing it for two years. After replacing the o2 sensors, cleaning the MAF sensors, and checking for leaks at the intakes, it's still there. I have cleared it many times, and it always returns about a hundred miles later.

I am going to take it to a shop to check for leaks in the exhaust. I have yet to see a definitive fix for this.

Isn't a contributing factor the stock cat/exhaust design?

I only mention this as it seems like fast intentions recesses the 02 slightly to avoid this problem as mentioned in their high flow res cats:

"J-Bend style O2 sensor anti fouler to keep that pesky CEL (Check Engine Light) off. Note: In rare instances, model year 2013 and above, may trip a CEL (Check Engine Light)"

370Z Resonated High Flow Cats, Fast Intentions

.....

Or it could just be it's a '09 / higher miles and they're toasted after racing those notoriously fast Subaru Outbacks to the nearest starbucks?

I just got this code resolved after a long time. My mechanic found a crack in my catalytic convertor. Once welded up, the code went away. He explained that the code is triggered when there is a mismatch between the O2 sensors. Since the crack let in fresh air into one side, there was a mismatch and the code was triggered. So, check the cat for cracks, especially around the connection points or hangars. Good luck.

Today I had been to the dealership for 'service engine soon' light on, and it became okay after they cleaned the throttle body.
