Default Embarrassing but lost Allen wrench

I'm a fool and dropped Allen wrench into engine bay when removing throttle body to clean it. I looked from top and I could not find it at all and I tried removing the plastic cover on bottom and didn't see it laying there either. I heard a clinking sound when It fell so I thought it hit the ground but it's just lost. I'm
Afraid to start it now lol. I don't have a jack so I might have to go buy one to get a better view from underneath. Or get a magnet or Mirror on a stick to find it. It was on the driver side and I think the starter is on that side so should I disconnect the battery negative side before I dig around more trying to find it? I haven't had to disconnect battery yet so hesitant to do it lol.

I hate when stuff like this happens but if you didn't find it after a quick search I wouldn't spend much time looking for it. A allen wrench isn't going to hurt anything and it'll fall out probably before you even make it out of your neighborhood.

I'd go ahead and use a magnet to fish for it but, as per TerribleONE, it's shouldn't be a big deal if you can't retrieve it.

Unless you will be near the terminal end of the starter, it shouldn't be necessary to disconnect battery. But it only take a few minutes for the ECM to relearn, so go for it if you want.

I have lost hours looking for dropped nuts, tools, etc. I'll obsess until I find it. Get underneath and take the splash guard off, you'll find it somewhere most likely. Magnetic pick-up tool is also useful.

But as others have said, not really too big a deal if you know it didn't fall into the manifold or something.

I didn't have anything taken apart beside the air duct to the throttle body being removed, I was still trying to loosen the TB bolts when I dropped it. So should be ok I guess. But I overthink things and wasn't sure if it landed on between starter and engine or something cuz I can't really see the starter. Looked again today but didn't wanna get too close to starter with my magnet. Tomorrow I'm gonna have to get more serious about finding it, if not then oh well, but it will always bug me lol wondering if it ever fell out or not

I absolutely could not find that Allen wrench even after poking all around with the magnet from the top and underneath So I drove around for a bit and then going after a stop I heard it fall out. And I pulled around to pick it up. I'm so happy I happen to hear it fall out tho. I always would have wondered if it ever fell out or if it was just sitting in there somewhere. I can't believe how I could not find it at all tho. Oh well

I usually ask my wife for help. Don't laugh. ...small hands and fingers and more patient. Works 98% of the time. She gets free car maintenance! !!
