Engine rumbling on NEUTRAL, acceleration drags, feels slower all round
When I'm sitting in my car and it's on neutral (& E brake) my car rumbles about every 15 seconds like the engine shivers or something. Not too loud but you can hear it. My next oil change is on 97,152 (currently at 96,483). Service engine light came on a few days ago. I'm new to California (Glendale area) and don't know which mechanic I should start investing money in. "It's having misfire problems" and the (2009 370z) doesn't accelerate as quick as it use to. Can someone please assist me with what you think it is. And also, I was told to start with a spark plug change... Do you recommend me buying my own NGK Laser Iridium Spark Plugs? (shop wanted to charge me $540 for those; labor included) $358 if I buy my own) Help

Lots of sad problems...clutch, acceleration etc.
Plugs are an easy diy. Both those prices they gave you are ridiculous.
What code is coming up on the service engine soon light?

Go to autozone and have them read the code and we can tell you what it is.

If you plan on DIYing, buy an OBD scanner/monitor and download the FSM. The scanner will tell you what the car thinks is wrong and the FSM will tell you how Nissan would fix it.

First silly question. Did you check your oil level?

Haven't been in this far in mine yet but I'm guessing we have a distributor cap somewhere. Make sure you don't have a burnt pole in it. Some discoloration and deposits is fine. If all the poles look pretty close to the same it's probably ok. Do cap and rotor if you change them. Use factory parts because aftermarket here is usually crap. They usually last 150k+. Spark plugs say 60k miles (at least for the NISMO). If they haven't been changed, do it. I'd go with stock plugs or the GTR plugs if you have bolt ons. Don't run the car with constant misfiring because you could destroy your catalytic converter. It will burn the raw fuel and melt itself. I would not consider one little tick every 10 seconds and only at idle constant misfiring.
Air filter if you haven't changed it yet too. This can rob a bunch of power. I like factory since they last a looooong time. Most aftermark filters will clog faster than OEM.

It's coil-on-plug.

Like I said, haven't got that deep into it yet. The older computer controlled cars, at least Toyota, still had distributors.
