13 z smell after high revs
So i got a 13 6mt with 13k miles and after giving a fair amount of gas 6-6.5k rpms i have a weird smell cant really describe but i know its not the clutch. I know that smell, lol. Anyone experienced any smells after high rev acceleration? If so is it a normal characteristic of our sexy cars? Or is it dealer time? Thanks! Sorry if was posted already!

Is it like a burning smell?
My z was used when i got it but low miles and when i would push it i got a burning smell. Not clutch or electronics. Was never sure what it was. It's gone away now. Possibly some sloppy fluids burning off.

Im not sure maybe kinda a burning smell i also bought used. Ive read under high acceleration the egr solenoid opens and just releases all of the gases to make more power and can make a smell but idk if its true. Ive never had a car smell after ONLY harder acceleration or driving high revs. Only my dam Z I hope its nothing serious |

Probably just over-loading the cats for a few seconds.

Yes. But Nissan isn't the only manufacturer of "whats supposed to be a sports car" - nearly all hi-po vehicles do it.

A good long highway trip can clear up the stank if that's what it is.

To use a diesel for example if the EGR valve is stuck open while trying to accelerate there will be a lack of power and black smoke out of the exhaust. This is because the boost is going through the EGR valve, through the EGR cooler and out through the exhaust manifold. Where ever you read that exhaust gases increase performance makes me laugh.

Egr can make power in a very tiny limited case senario but you want see it from an oem system and that is as an ignition event buffer, just a bit of exhaust gas sto kill preignition when really really hot. Good race motors do this with just a hair to much exhaust overlap though so it doesnt really count as egr. Also it is better to design the head to reduce preignition and completelly evacuate the cylinder than to do it any way, but irregardless to the topic if the car only sees high load occasionally it can be the cats another thing is the exhaust heat shielding finally getting hot enough to burn off the crap that gets in from DD use. This is probably the case if you open the hood and the smell gets 10x worse.
