Did I drink the Koolaid on oil coolers?
Had a Setrab 25 row oil cooler installed Saturday. My temps had been getting to 230-240 during summer backroad rips. Normal operating temps were in the 200-210 range. After the cooler install, the car warms up {oil} slower than normal and never goes above 180. I thought the thermo sandwich plate let the car warm up normally, then turned on. Is 180 too low? Could it be the vendor gave me the wrong plate? HELP!

You're fine at 180, much better than 240. I believe there was some discussion about where the oil temp is actually measured, and how the temp gauge will read lower than the actual temp by a certain amount.
Also, even with the thermostatic plate some oil is still flowing through the cooler to prevent shock from cold oil suddenly being released into a hot engine.

You're good on temps. The plate is open about 10% when cold. As mention. So it doesn't shock the system with a rush of cold and hot oil when the plate starts to open. I have a 34 row Z1 cooler. My temps are about 180 on a 75deg day cruising at 60 mph. On the Dragon this year. The temps were about mid 70's. I got my temps up over 200 deg. When I track, I see temps around 230~240. In the winter time. I put a couple of pieces of duct tape across the cooler.

Ok, sooooo... I glossed over the thread...
I don't think anyone has said it, but when you install an oil cooler your temperature gauge is now out of whack, it's about 20 degrees off because the thermostat is where the oil inlet is from the cooler... So as long as you're hitting 160, you're gold
