Default Easy Rear Timing Cover Leak Test?

I think I have figured out a easy, no tools required way to check for a leaking rear timing cover.

All you need is an OBD-II scanner (I use ELM327 Wi-fi) and an OBD app (Torque or OBD Fusion, or other)
Connect to your car and look at your Mode $06 data, MID / Component ID $35+$36

Here is my data from Feb 29th:
CID / TID / test result / min / max / pass+fail
$35 - VVT Monitor Bank 1 TID $80 - Manufacturer Defined 3 -13 13 deg Pass
$35 - VVT Monitor Bank 1 TID $82 - Manufacturer Defined -2 -13 13 deg Pass
$36 - VVT Monitor Bank 2 TID $80 - Manufacturer Defined 3 -13 13 deg Pass
$36 - VVT Monitor Bank 2 TID $82 - Manufacturer Defined -1.5 -13 13 deg Pass

If the test result is less than -13 or more than +13, then a check engine light will be either P0011 or P0021.

My thinking is if the test result is around the middle (-5 to 5 or so..) the intake VTC is operating fine. If the VTC is operating fine, it must have the oil pressure it needs.

My ASK:
If possible, post your mode $06 data for item $35/$36. If you happen to have an oil pressure gauge, mention your oil pressure at idle.

I should have my oil pressure sensor gauge installed by next week (as long as the weather is not too cold) and hope to corrolate oil pressure to the test result. OK oil pressure should equal a test result in the middle. Low oil pressure should indicate a value closer to the min or max.
DIGItonium and Presto like this.
