Default 110 Octane(Race gas)

Hey guys,

I have a high octane map on my newest ECUTEK tune and was wondering if anyone runs this more than just at the track. I have access to 110 either at the pump( can get 93 there also) or 5 gal drum. Just curious if anyone has run it and seen benefits of running on the street. Also anyone run Torco Racing Fuel?
Thank you

Lol why would you want to run 110 octane on the street?

Would be a waste IMO. If you want more power on the street get tuned for E85 so you don't have to pay 10$ a gallon.

Good point I'm not sure what I was thinking, Expect the access I have to E85 is a 35 min tirp up and down the hwy, an 110 is like around the corner. :/

I have to drive about 20-25 minutes each way for E85 as well but it is well worth it.

I didn't use my 100 octane tune once before I went E85 cause I couldn't justify the extra price but that's just me. Maybe race gas is cheaper by you. A 5 gallon drum of 110 is around 75$ here.

i have a 100 octane tune from uprev. i ran it once after i bought 5 gallon drum of 110 to mix with 93 and sent the data back to them. i have yet to use it again, but i will end up trying it when i go to the track. its just too expensive for normal days i feel.

how much is your 110 at pump per gallon? I dont think we have that option in texas( if we do please let me know! )

Edit:VP Racing in Texas btw

I buy 100 octane in Van Alstyne, TX once in a while. It was $6/gal last time I checked.

Personally the highest I would go other than an e85 tune would be 100 octane. For one 110 is leaded but most 100 octanes are still unleaded. Your tune would run really lean if it wasn't directly tuned for 110 and CEL's would be lighting up like crazy.

I double checked, it was actually VP Racing T4 100 octane. Sorry for the confusion

gentleman, as you can see I never blog, but do read and follow this site. the question I have is this, my understanding of high compression engines and pre-detonation with accompanied flame fronts is what gives us the "pinging" we get from this problem. The 'fix' is raising the octane in the fuel, which has no hp benefits once the problem is fixed....so are you sure ..from experimental data that using 100 octane will do anything other that deplete your pocket book.

It's for added insurance against knocking when pushing the car hard (race track) in hot weather.

I also fill up with 100 octane after the car has been in storage to bring the old gas back up to a decent octane. I drive around easy until I'm at about 1/2 tank then go fill er up with 100.

I agree though. Using 100 octane on the street when your car is not tuned for it is not going to net any power gains.

This would be true without a tune, however the OP said he has a high octane tune.

Still not worth the added cost though IMO
