Exclamation What to check??? Cruise Control won't set

Afternoon all,

I have a 2011 370z with sport package and 55k miles.
- The dealer will NOT cover the Cruise Control issue on the 60k warranty.

What sort of things should i be checking for to try and resolve this issue???

Info:
- On / Off cruise control function works
- No Check Engine Lights
- No flashing Cruise Control light
- "Set" feature will not maintain my speed
- I'm not trying to set cruise @ 100 or 15 mph
- Aftermarket Kenwood headunit has been installed for 30k miles
- No other electronic mods

Thoughts?!

Max cruise control speed is 90 mph FYI. I found that out on the 85 mph toll road we've got here.

I encountered a similar problem many miles ago. I ended up taking the steering wheel controls apart and trying to clean them the best I could. It's been a while, but I think I used compressed air and a small flathead screwdriver wrapped with a cloth. I wasn't expecting much, but it seemed to solve my problem. No issues in 30K+ miles.

First thing I'd check is the brake pedal switch. If the car thinks the brake pedal is pressed, no cruise control.

And the clutch switches if you have a MT.

Ding ding ding!!!

This was my problem. You can diagnose it by raising the brake pedal with your foot and trying to set CC, if it works, it's the switch, or the brake pedal adjustment.

Okay, that did it... Lifting the brake pedal allowed me to set Cruise.

Now, what the heck does that mean i have to fix?

First thing is to check the adjustment of the switch location. It can be raised or lowered in relation to the brake pedal. If that doesn't work, then you need to remove the brake switch, take it apart, clean the contacts, reassemble, and reinstall. Different switch but should be a similar solution: Car won't start!...and it's not the Steering Lock...

Or you could probably buy a new one. I don't think they're terribly expensive.
SouthArk370Z and osbornsm like this.
