Factory alarm goes off spontaneosly every 3 minutes?
Hi,
Yesterday my Z started to sound the OEM alarm every 3-4 minutes, and still does. Very annoying for me and my neighbors. I Googled the problem and found some threads here, and I noticed someone had a problem with the hood latch switch (if that's the official name?). I've checked the door switches, and there's no visible problem I went out to the car, started it up and noticed that this light is lit until maybe 7-10 seconds after every enginestart, and then shuts off just like the other warninglights. But is this normal for this warninglight, should it light up at all? Or, do you have any other suggestion what the problem can be? I can't understand why the alarm keeps going off. Z has just been at the workshop for regular service, and they changed all fluids in the car, if something happened there? Z has also just been put in traffic again after the winter, two weeks ago. Thanks in advance! |

Battery is dead / dying.
Electronic systems freak out like this when they don't receive the proper voltage.

Yeah...
Yup....but I don't quite see the connection between my fob and what happens if some ***hat tries breaking into my car to steal it?
I thought the 'security' system was simply passive. My 370 would be immobilized if someone gets in and tries to start it. I wasn't aware it did anything beyond that. I must have missed that part in the manual. 104 |

From the owners manual...
VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM The vehicle security system provides visual and audio alarm signals if someone opens the doors, hood or rear hatch when the system is armed. It is not, however, a motion detection type system that activates when a vehicle is moved

Thanks a lot. Wasn't thinking that could be the problem, it was a too easy! Put the battery on charge for 48h, and I haven't had any issue with the alarm since. Again - thanks. |
