Default CSC under warranty or not?

I have verified with Nissan and I was told no warranty covers the CSC except the 3 year/36 month bumper to bumper.

Power Train 5year/60k - I was told NO
Cerified 7year/100k (or whatever long it is) - I was told NO
Extended Gold Preferred (any months/miles) - I was told NO

I know the CSC has been discussed a million times, but I don't believe warranty coverage has been discussed as much.

Owners that had it replaced under other warranty might have gotten lucky, who knows, it sucks though that none of the other Nissan Warranties would cover you.

It was discussed in the giant CSC thread I read when it happened to me. The consensus is consistent with what you said.

My dealership stated it was not covered under power train warranty but replaced the fluid with gtr fluid at no charge. I haven't had problems since this happened 6 weeks ago.

It all depends on the dealer and your persuasion skills. Some have gotten it replaced under the drive train warranty while others were not able to.

POWERTRAIN COVERAGE
The Powertrain coverage period is 60 months or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. This warranty covers any repairs needed to correct defects in materials or workmanship. Powertrain coverage applies to components listed below under the headings, Engine, Transmission and Transaxle, Drivetrain, and Restraint System, supplied by Nissan subject to the exclusions listed under the heading “WHAT IS NOT COVERED”.
ENGINE
... flywheel, seals, and gaskets.
TRANSMISSION AND TRANSAXLE
Case and all internal parts, torque converter and converter housing, automatic transmission control module, transfer case and all internal parts, seals and gaskets, clutch cover and housing A/T cooler, and electronic transmission controls.
DRIVETRAIN
Drive shafts, final drive housing, and all internal parts, propeller shafts, universal joints, bearings, seals and gaskets.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED
GENERAL EXCLUSIONS
...
Normal wear and tear, including dings, dents, chips,
or scratches
...

CSC isn't a wear item. The seals fail on the CSC causing the fluid the leak out. Seals are covered under the engine, transmission, and drivetrain sections of the 5 year warranty. If you ask enough people at Nissan I'm sure you'll find someone who will tell you pigs fly. In the end it is covered, they don't want to cover (pay for) it, so if they can get you to pay for it they will try.

Good luck. I did the run around with three local dealerships for over 6 months before giving up on getting it covered under the powertrain warranty. They won't budge. Even corporate.

I would be willing to bet that most of the people who got it covered outside of 3/36K warranty received "good will" coverage (I haven't heard of any dealer who has covered it under the 5/60K powertrain warranty). "Good will" coverage is offered only to customers who already spend a lot of money at the dealership because they want to keep them happy. It doesn't cost the dealer anything because they still get reimbursed by corporate, and they keep the customer lining their pockets

Yep, if your going to spend your money don't replace it with another Nissan csc. Get the Heavy Duty CSC from ZSpeed and be done with it.

It absolutely is covered, don't take no for an answer.

My local dealer didn't even put up a fight, they checked my vin and said it was covered. I have gold preferred coverage fyi.

You have to pay extra for that warranty. When people talk about covered under warranty, they're generally referring to the warranty that comes with the car, not an extended service plan that extends the 3yr/36K mile warranty to 8yr/120K miles. Of course your dealer didn't hesitate when you brought it to them. The VIN just told them that you have the extended warranty.

The issue is the 5yr/60K mile powertrain warranty that comes with every new Z says it covers parts inside the housing, but they won't cover the CSC.

I feel like at this point we need a class action to get Nissan to get off their asses and pay their dues. I'm beyond disgusted with Nissan over this issue. It's a danger to the public when I'm on a highway my boom! no clutch. Love my 370z but I do not feel any loyalty to Nissan at this point since they have shown zero **** to their existing customers. I will never buy another Nissan car and will tell anyone I know the same.

I agree. CSC shouldn't fail so soon/often and it is so expensive to replace.

When this happened to me on my CPO 2010 (@28K mi), 2 local dealers said no, my 7yr/100k CPO warranty didn't cover any CSC issues.

Then the dealer in Van Nuys said they would cover the fluid swap under the warranty and said they'd replace the CSC under warranty if deemed it was needed. They wound up only replacing the fluid.

That was 5-6 months ago and I have not had any problem...to this point.
