Looking to purchase an OBD scanner compatible with the 370Z. Any recommendations? There is an Innova 3100 on sale locally ... but I have no idea whether it's of decent

Default OBD Scanners

Looking to purchase an OBD scanner compatible with the 370Z. Any recommendations? There is an Innova 3100 on sale locally ... but I have no idea whether it's of decent quality and/or compatible. Reviews I've seen are mixed. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you just want to pull DTCs the 3100 looks like it will do a good job ... but you can get the same functionality for a lot less. It doesn't take much to read/clear DTCs. With the 3100, you're paying about $80 more just for the built-in DTC descriptions. Grab the DTC with a $20-30 scanner and Google it.

If you are wanting to monitor engine variables, it doesn't look like the 3100 capable. I'd suggest getting an ODB/CAN-to-USB (or -Bluetooth) adapter and one of the monitoring programs/apps that are available.

go point bt1 its a few bucks more but you can leave it plugged in ( its bt ) its nice because you can set up custom dashes on your phone or your headunit if you have one that can mirror your phone ( this is what i do ) you can not only pull and clear dtc's but you can monitor all sensors on the car . i think your looking at around 110 bucks for the scanner and the app for your phone if memory serves me . worth every penny in my opinion .

I figured out how to access a few PIDs via ScanGauge; results are here. See columns labeled SG2_*.
