Default Interior Door Handles - Removable?

I am looking to paint the interior door handle KAD to match my exterior and was wondering if anyone knows if the handle can be detached from the interior door panel. All of the parts diagrams I found appeared to show it as part of the door panel. I also did not find anything searching this forum specifically.

I pulled open the handle and did not see any obvious way of removing it. It looks like the black plastic inserts behind the handle come out, but I didn't do any removal on my lunch break. Which brings me to the fact that this is my DD, so I would really like to know what I'm getting into if I start to take anything apart. Does anyone know if I take the door panel off, whether I will be able to remove these handles to paint them? If I have to, of course, I can always paint them while still attach - that's just not my first choice.

So there's zero confusion of the part I am talking about, here is a photo:

when you remove the panels you will be able to remove the "handle section". The actual handle is not its own piece and mounted to a black plastic component. You should be able to tape around it and paint.
