Replacing drive belt
Hello everyone (from sunny Sydney!)
I just replaced the drive belt on my 370Z (procedure should be similar for G37 owners). Tools: - Car ramps or jack + chassis stands - 3/8" drive long breaker bar or ratchet with strong metal pipe for extra leverage - Belt: OEM part #11720-EY00B or 7PK2020 (DO NOT fall into the same hole as i did when comparing part numbers on the Bando site. Bando have got it listed incorrectly as 6PK2020. It fits but doesnt have the additional rib) - 10mm socket + ratchet - Pliers - 6mm allen key - Friendly assistant - Pen/cil and paper Steps: 1. Raise car using ramps or jack and stands (safely) and ensure the engine is cool enough to work on. 2. Remove belly shield and coolant overflow bottle (2 x 10mm bolts followed by 1 hose from the engine and detach the hose nearest to your stomach on the bottle. Pliers come in handy as it's a bit stubborn. 3. Hand sketch the belt routing 4. Locate the tensioner and find its 3/8" square hole towards the bottom half where the pulley is (near alternator). 5. Using breaker bar or ratchet, pull the tensioner towards the left side of the vehicle (oil filler cap side, or driver's side for US folks). 6. Have your assistant insert the allen key into the holes at the top of the tensioner as they line up. This will hold it in place while you work. 7. Remove belt and replace with new one, following your hand sketch earlier and ensuring all ribs are fitted correctly. Double, triple check routing. 8. Pull the tensioner to the left again and have your assistant remove the allen key. Release the tensioner back into position slowly. 9. Return vehicle to ground and start engine, checking for abnormal warping or sounds. 10. Enjoy PS: Sorry, i didnt take any photos as i was doing this a bit hastily while being attacked by mosquitos |

Did you replace the idler pulleys? How many ribs were on the belt. 6 or 7? ( Sorry I just noticed the post date, but just curious...)

for anyone who needs photos(like I do), might want to check this thread: DIY - Serpentine belt replacement for HR's - MY350Z.COM Forums not sure if they are 100% similar but from the info on this thread, they seem very close. I just hit 28k so i'm planning this for after winter |
