Hey guys and gals, I did not really see this on the forum on how to replace them so I figured that I would make a DIY to for someone in the future. Difficulty level: Fairly simple.
In the first pic, I am showing where I started. Once the airbag assembly is pulled, flip it over. Second pic, undo the 2 screws holding each control in. Two screws per side (4 total) Third pic, disconnect the green wire CAREFULLY. The wire is very thin so do not pull on the wire itself, I carefully slid it off by using the needle nose pliers and slightly pulling on the connector (NOT THE WIRE). Fourth Pic, remove the 8mm nut and move the start untucking the wires all the way around, just follow the wires where they lead and they will be tucked to the other side. Push them under the clips and they will just slide out one at a time. Fifth pic, A closer picture of the clip is where the green wire starts to make a letter U. Sixth, After the two screws are taken out and the wires are untucked, gently pry with your finger from the corner and push from the opposite side on the controls and they should slip on out. 7th, Now put all the wires back together like you took it apart. BE VERY Careful when tightening the 8mm nut back because you do not want to cut into the green wire! Enjoy your new controls. I threw no airbag light or CEL doing this. Disclaimer: I am in no way responsible for your vehicle or this mod if you choose to swap out your controls. Do this at your own risk, ![]()

This is a DIY for the steering wheel controls like the title says... It can be for someone who has controls that are worn over time, are replacing to the darker finish 2015 Nismo controls, or for other reasons.

I have a Z which did not come with factory installed steering wheel controls for cell phones. I also have an aftermarket head unit with bluetooth. I have purchased a set of steering wheel controls which include the cell phone buttons.
Can anyone confirm that adding steering wheel controls w/cell phone buttons will result in the ability to answer calls, adjust call volume, etc.? I have the Crux SWRNS-63U installed, but I am open to confirmation from anyone regardless of which brand steering wheel control adapter they have installed. Thanks in advance for the responses. |

It won't work bro, already tried it for a friend. The cell phone button is what I'm talking about at least. Your radio buttons and all should work fine but if the car didn't come with Bluetooth on the steering wheel and you add the controls for it then it won't work still

Actually, I needed this. The radio controls on my steering wheel appear to be broken so I need to replace the parts. My question would be how do I get to the airbag piece off. Maybe a step by step on that. Like disconnect battery, etc...

If you can't find a DIY on this site, try the FSM (link in my sig).
