So I had some major engine work done recently on my 2011 370Z and when the job was completed I found this sitting in the drink holder inside the car.

Can anyone tell me what this is?
So I had some major engine work done recently on my 2011 370Z and when the job was completed I found this sitting in the drink holder inside the car. The mechanic says he can't remember for the life of him where it came from. (I know, pretty scary mechanic.) Does anyone here recognize it?
Thanks in advance for your help. |

Remove engine, disassemble, replace rings, hone cylinders, reseat valves, reassemble, replace engine. In short, it could be just about anything. The car is running fine, but what concerns me is that it looks like some kind of safety mechanism to hold something in place.

It looks like a retainer for tubing (A/C, fuel, vacuum, &c) to me but I'm not at all certain.
There is at least one web site, Courtesy Parts, that has drawings and/or pics of most 370Z parts. If nobody comes up with an answer, I'd see it I could ID it there. Edit: Or take it to another Nissan parts department and see if they can figure it out. Somebody at a local auto parts store may know what it is.

Thanks SouthArk. I spent a good hour looking at pics at Courtesy Parts, concentrating the ones to do with tubing and wiring. No luck so far. Unfortunately, I have a, shall we say, less than amicable relationship with the local dealership after they refused to cover these repairs under warranty, which was why I was forced to take it to the mechanic that I did.
I'm hoping one of the DIYers here will have come across it in their work and recognize it. Because you can't tell from the pic, it's about an inch and a half to two inches long, and maybe three quarters to an inch wide at the fat part. It has arrows pointing forward on the fatter part and has the letters >PA66< on top. I researched that some, but it looks like it refers to the type of plastic it's made of, rather than any kind of a part number. |

Semtex posted a great diagram of it in this thread. It's #1 in the diagram. All it does is hold the fuel line in place. Geez, glad I asked!
Sorry useless thread, but what is this thing? Last edited by brad1; 08-01-2015 at 11:30 AM. |

So this is in the engine compartment, not in the fuel tank?

Is this similar to a retainer clip of sorts? Keeps the line from coming out or something? Got an actual pic of where it's used?

It seems that way, Jsolo. From the diagram it looks like it's just a matter of following the fuel feed line back to were it starts. I'm going to have a run at it after dinner. I'll post up a pic if I can get a decent one.
