Default Ceramic Pro 9H vs. Opti Coat

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with either of these two products and if they would recommend it? With my schedule this summer, I don't have the time to learn the proper techniques with claying, machine polishing, and waxing my car. I also don't have access to a power outlet, so I wouldn't be able to use an orbital polisher.

Anyways, the detailer that I'm currently talking to recommended me Ceramic Pro 9H over Opti Coat, and the costs of prep and install runs from at least $600 and $800, respectively. It's a lot of money, and I just want some feedback on the products as well as the pricing because I don't know what kind of pricing I should expect. Thanks!

I have Opticoat 2.0 on my car. I applied it two years ago. It is everything they say it is. My car always looks polished and it has cut down almost completely on the RIDS and micro-marring. In fact in two years I only see one area that I would polish and reapply. It was easy to apply but I spent about 16 hours polishing and prepping my car for the application. I'm not sure what your guy charges per hour but it seems reasonable. $200-300 for product and application, hourly rate for paint correction.

I have to say the same for the Ceramic Pro, though I don't drive my car that much its been on there for 1.5 years and still going strong. The more layers your apply the better protection you get but it gets time consuming.

I have opticoat 2.0 on my car. I dont' know why your quote is so high mine was applied for less than $500.

Water still beads beautifully. I still wax my car because opticoat doesn't give you that smooth feel when you glide your finger over it and optimum car wax really makes everything pop. There are no swirls to speak of after 1.5 years of owning the car since I applied it. Paint chips still happen so no coating is going to save you from that. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to apply it to all my other cars.

Thanks for the input!

I'm going to the detailer tomorrow morning to look at both Opti Coat and Ceramic Pro options, but I think I'm going to stick to Opti Coat, just because it's a little cheaper than the Ceramic Pro
