Winter rinseing
So the next 5 days or so call for rain/freezing rain and today being the only nice non below 33 day.
My question is would you recommend hittin the Z with a good pressure soap wash and rinse? Obviously i don't want to then hand dry if i first didn't soap scrub. Would the wet z on salt/rock roads be more harmful than just letting it sit without a rinse? |

Bro I wash my car in the rain all the time. Have at it with a scrub. Just don't dry it. I do it to get the grit, grim, dirt off. In your case salt. Leaving it like that causes damage to the paint and rims. Sometimes stained for life.

Im die hard. Look at the back of McGuire’s products that’s me. A car crazy. But for real’s though. Cloudy, It’s going to rain again. It has rained. Breaks in between weather. If not go to a coin wash place. They have over hangs. You seemed shocked. You sound kind of like my family and neighbors. But the magic comes to life when I pull up looking fresh out the dealer with more miles than a car with less with tore back paint, rims, interior. God I love my car!

Good to hear I'm not the only fool... Or you can do what I do and use a leaf blower after you wash it
Mine has never had a towel or anything drying it off.. Blow it then a good detail is the works! |

I like that idea. I've got one laying in my garage i'll use that next time. I use this sort of rain wiper blade on the body of the car that gets a lot of the water off without the full use of a drying cloth.

Lol!!!
I have washed my car in the rain off to take just crap off my car As long as you rinse it, do what you gotta do brother May I suggest using an ELECTRIC leaf blower to dry your car if you want to touch-less dry it? EDIT: damn you XTZZZXXYSZXXXX!!! I just saw you said that first, lol |

I like to wash in the rain because you don't have to dry it. Rain water doesn't spot.
In the winter, just go to a touchless car wash. It doesn't do a great job, but will get most of the grime and salt off.

Don't use the rain wiper crap unless you want swirls and scratches in the paint. Stick with the leaf blower or you can get the metrovac master blaster.
Basically the less time you let the salt and crap sit on the car, the better. This is why I detail and apply a new coat of wax before winter hits. Rain is clean water, unless you live in area that gets a lot of acid rain....but thats why you protect the paint with wax. Also remember to spray down the undercarriage. If the car isn't too dirty, you can use Optima No Rinse, a bucket with warm water and a microfiber cloth. Works great and doesn't damage the paint.

But have heard the noise it makes as you swipe The water off tells me there has to be resistance... I just can't believe it's good for the clear coat. A GOOD coat of wax and a leaf blower followed by Your choice of detailer has kept my 09 looking brand new |

What I usally do I'm the winter is connect the hose to the slop sink inside my laundry room since its close to the garage and use the hot water from inside the house to wash the car.. Works amazing and so much easier on the hands! And it's pretty cool to see the Z steaming from the hot water and the cold air haha
