What are all these scratches!!!????
So yesterday was the first day in 2 weeks since all the rain, that I was able to wash my car. To my major dsimay, there were all these scratches in the paint!
I couldn't understand why, how they got there, and after looking over the whole car, they were only on the doors and hood So i contacted the dealership, because I never noticed them before, because you can only see them when the sun hits, and Nissan of Duarte said to bring the car in. They polished it, waxed it and buffed out everything for free. Man I was super scared I would be out of pocket, but they came through once again! But my question is..... when I wash it again, will the scratches be hidden under that polish? I used only microfiber cloths, some rainX wash and that's it. Do I need someone to go hardcore and buff the scratches out if they are still under there? |

I watch where I park and stay AWAY. Parking with the rest will you get scratches from jackets, purses, bags, who knows.

People just don't care..... Especially if they own something alot less desirable to look at than a Z, which is 95% of other cars out there. There are also alot of none car people out there with the mindset that cars are only transport devices and nothing more.
As for care, either have a professional take care of it, or do plenty of research before attempting a DIY as you can be too aggressive and ruin the clear coat. One last thing to keep in mind, the doors are aluminum.

Also keep in mind that you have one of the if not the hardest colors to keep clean and looking good. If you do run into a problem, like the others have said, contact the Junkman!

yeah, check out some Junkman videos and make sure you are washing your car with the proper techniques. Paint is soft on the Z and it doesn't take much to create swirls from washing especially on a black car. Do not buy your wash mitts and microfibers from Autozone, Wal Mart etc.. there is a huge difference in quality. Check out https://www.theragcompany.com/ or https://www.autogeek.net/ for quality products.

Thanks for all the responses! Yeah it might have been me hopping all over the car making sure every inch of it was washed to the "T". but if it was some spiteful a** person, they don't want me to catch em!

Polish if done properly, will remove the scratches. If the used glosses they will show back up after a few washes. That's the difference between a (detailer) and a detailer. Someone who takes 2 hours with your car and says it's done isn't doing anything properly. My recommendation would be get you some ceramic coating, gyeon, cquartz, ammonyc, and do a coating in the spring after a cleaning and at least a wipe down with gyeon prep. This will give you a layer of protection against scratches. I'm not saying it will stop scratches, but it will help to stop them hitting your clear coat directly.
