how can i get oil based shine, grease, dirt build up off my tire

hi, how can i get oil based shine, grease, dirt build up off my tire, i washed it by hand and a touchless car wash, i wanted to get it perfectly clean before i start using the new water based tire shine i bought, and i dont want the applicator to come into contact with any left behind oil based shine from the tire.

Some dish soap (doesn't take a lot) diluted in water, a scrub brush, and some elbow grease. Rinse well.

You need to use a tire cleaner like McKee's 37 Tire and Rubber Rejuvenator. Spray it on, let it foam and turn brown, then scrub tire with a low profile tire brush. Rinse. I would do this at least twice or until the foam doesn't turn brown. Then apply your new water-based tire protectant. You can find those products at Autogeek.net.

Dawn. lil' drop will do ya. Keeps the tire from looking "dried" and browned out, and still is enough to break adhesion. Lot of the "spray on" or "foam" are petrol based which will break down and weaken the rubber over time, losing shine and encouraging aging/cracking.

As with many things in life, a lil bit of the right stuff and a bit of elbow grease is a better, and wiser, course of action

That said, if you don't want " applicator to into contact with any left behind oil based shine from the tire"... you do realize rubber has a natural oil residual in it right? This is not a reasonable expectation, even for synthetic rubber compounds

I'm not an adams supporter at all. But their adams tire cleaner works very well for this kind of thing. It's probably the only product I'd still recommend from them

Dawn dish liquid is the ticket. Hell, their motto is "takes grease out of your way" Lol.
And if they can use it on Baby ducks and seals after crude oil spills.......

As many have said, dawn. I use that to clean the wheels wells along with a brush.
