Default TEIN Super Street Coilover VS Nismo Stock

I've been looking everywhere for the answer to this question and I haven't been able to find an answer. I love the suspension on my car and how it handles stock nismo but on long trips it can be brutal. So I'm looking for an EDFC solution. Thing is they are very expensive. I don't want to shell out a fortune only to learn that on the softest dampening setting its as stiff or stiffer than the stock nismo I already have.

Does anyone have these with EDFC or have set them to the softest setting? How does the ride compare to the stock nismo suspension? Is it worth spending 2-3 grand on?

coilovers are generally stiffer than stock shocks and springs, if you want a more comfortable ride you might want to look at air bags

I had hoped that on the softest dampening setting I'd be able to soften the ride a little and then be able to stiffen it back up when I wanted to have some fun.

my experience with teins on the supra platform; on the softest damping setting the car would be way to bouncy and not a quality ride. Somewhere in the middle worked great for daily streets.

In comparison to the nismo suspension, i feel teins kept the car flatter in the turns but the nismo suspension felt much better in terms of dampening. Nismo actually researched and tested the valving specific to the car. (im sure tein does to some extent also)

Keep your nismo suspension stock....its one of the reasons you went nismo right

Spring rate will be higher than stock nismo, damping isn't necessarily going to be better, and softer damping doesn't necessarily equate to more comfortable ride either.

If comfort is really a priority here, crazy thought is you can swap your springs and shocks with the sport pkg units....

Flame suit on for this one - or be even crazier, go with Tanabe NF210 springs and Koni yellow shocks...assuming the yellows can withstand the low spring rate.

Best solution, however, buy a used civic/corolla/whatever for rougher trips.

I had a bad experience with tein ss on my tsx years ago. Horrible squeaking in cold weather and corrosion/rust.

depends on the spring rate... if the spring rates come softer than your nismo's then it can be a smoother ride when you soften the damp setting,.

Thanks for the feedback. Think I'm going to hold off for now. Seems like it's an expensive option that's not going to ultimately give me what I'm looking for.
