Default Gt spec rear strut cross brace

GT SPEC REAR STRUT CROSS BRACE
CONTACT GTSPEC or RAVSPEC

Remove clips to remove trunk plastic panels (3 pieces will be removed)

Center hatch panel removed first (Pull up)

Remove both side panels to reveal shock tower. Chuck the upper hat rubber cover

Use 36mm socket for the big nut. Black hat is what we need for now.

Jack up and take off the rear wheels. Remove (2) 12mm nut from wheel well

After removing the 12mm nuts, pull down the shock until the upper hat adapter can fit

Bolt up the 2 - 12mm nuts and this is what you'll see inside

On each end of the bar there is 17mm nut along with an 8 or 10mm bolt. Slightly loosen to put bar on

Place the seat belt bar on top of the cross bar

On the other side as well. Leave it loose. Place 36mm but don't tighten.

Note how the seat belt bar is cupped away from seat belt

Remove the triangular trim cover for the seat belt holder. Pry the triangular cover off to reveal the 14mm bolt. Remove 14mm bolt seat belt holder

Pull the seat belt to slack and work on removing the star washer lock as pointed.
Use something heavy to hit the bolt to lodge the star washer off if it's stubborn. (Sometimes it can just spin right off)
Be careful when removing the bolt off as there are plenty of washers. Keep them in order.

Place the supplied allen bolt through the cup hole of the seat belt bar & place the whole assembly of the seat belt holder and tighten and thread as to not cross thread the allen bolt.

Finished with the sides; now go to the back.

Tighten the 36mm big nut

Go back over the 17mm nut and allen bolt on all 6 points

Finished product:

Feedback: I have TEIN FLEX coilovers with EDFC, front and rear Eibach sway bars with a Robispec harness bar. But when I took the car out for a ride after the GT SPEC REAR STRUT CROSS BRACE install, the immediate factor and difference was steering response. It stiffens out the chassis. I wasn't expecting a big difference but it was definitely there. The steering response was on point! For all you precision drivers that loves handling; you need to purchase these. As for the people looking for aftermarket strut/harness bars; you can kill 2 birds with one stone by picking this up. Its safe to mount your racing harness on the cross brace for it is strong, sturdy, and definitely a chassis stiffener.

GTSPEC FTW

Very nice writeup, first writeup I've seen that shows how the brace connects to the seat belts. I find it interesting that you can only use the lateral braces by deleting OEM seat belts?

This is definitely a high priority item on my list to get ordered before spring hits and the full season of Auto-X awaits

I just installed mine this past weekend. I have to say the install is very simple and the final product is great. It also works as a great harness bar alternative. I'll post my own (or maybe add to this thread) "how to" once I have the interior panels properly trimmed. All in all I'm very happy with the product.

I don't know if I'd go so far as to say it's safe to use as a harness bar. You're not going to know it's not sturdy enough until it seriously injures or kills you.

Very nice writeup, this is definitely on my list of parts to buy.

Hell no! I don't care if its solid Unubtanium. The side walls were not meant to hold a harness. That paper thin sheet metal can try and save your life, but it isn't going to try and save mine.
SPOHN and Chuck33079 like this.
