Brake Caliper corrosion

Just bought a 2010 370 a few days ago. Found out the car came from Ohio where it snows...looked at the brake calipers to find a bit of corrosion.....Should I

Default Brake Caliper corrosion

Just bought a 2010 370 a few days ago. Found out the car came from Ohio where it snows...looked at the brake calipers to find a bit of corrosion.....Should I be worried? Im having a buddy sand them down and paint them...

I probly would do a rebuild kit on them, wait are they Akebonos?? if so I would look up mike here on the forum he does powder coating you can change the color and he does reuilds on them after he powder coats them.

It's probably the paper clip calipers, I would clean and grease the pins. Clean the spots where the pads and shims go. They will work much better.

functionality wise it'll be fine. I've seen whole calipers that are rusted and still work haha

If it really bothers you, an afternoon spent with a wire wheel and a can of high-temp spray paint will take care of that.

It's butt-ugly but shouldn't affect performance significantly on a DD. I'd take apart, clean, and re-assemble all four corners to make sure none of the corrosion has gotten to the pistons/pads.

Thanks guys. I'm taking it in Tuesday to have a buddy clean em and paint them. Car is red. What color you think would be best? I was thinking black. I'm open to suggestions.
