Default Light Braking shakes steering wheel

My steering-wheel shakes pretty bad when I brake lightly from 70MPH to 0. Looking at other threads I see the rotors may need to be resurfaced. I have 26,000Mi and mentioned it to the service adviser who said they might be able to turn them.

At this point I would assume I have 1/2 life left on the pads if that. Are there better options at the dealership to upgrade the rotor if they need replaced?

I have a 2012 Sport Touring Package M6

I am sure this thread is a familiar one...

One another note will I get some sort of indicator when the pads needs replaced???

There are wear indicators in the pads that squeal when it's time to change them out.

OEM Rotors? My attitude is its a problem and should be a warranty item.

It's worth a shot. It's a wear item, so you may not get anything.

The rotors may have an imbalance to them for some reason. Rust, Flat spots from hard braking sometimes cause by uneven pressure from the 4 pistons. Rotor should be .03mm or more in thickness if they are resurfacing is the first step I would take. While they have the calipers off ask how the Pistons and dust shields look. If the dust shields are melted they can gum up the pistons movement.

at 26,000 miles I would imagine your pads would be very low and ready to be replaced. They would warranty the rotors only if they find too much runout and were not able to resurface. But that depends on the dealer as well. My brakes started pulsating at 12,000 miles. I upgraded rotors + pads, brake fluid and never looked back. In your case I would turn the rotors, upgrade brake pads and switch to DOT 4 brake fluid.
