Bent inner tire rod
Hey everyone,
Hope this is the right place to post this thread.. So I hit a nasty pot hole, thanks to Jersey rds, with my 2010 370z and the alignment was off. so I took the car to have the alignment done and i got a bad news. The inner tire rod on the front driver side is bent. Mechanic suggested to change the outer rod as well. Does anybody have any experience changing the inner and outer tire rod on their 370Z? Any DIY out there for this? Any help is truly appreciated. |

you mean tie rod?
you can buy the part from courtesyparts.com and you can install it yourself, or take it to a shop. your alignment shop might be able to do the install for you if you dont know how. |

Based on the diagram on courtesyparts.com it should be a straight forward install. Just remember that regardless of who does the install work you'll need an alignment afterwards.

btw, check with your insurance if you can get the part and labor paid.
i remember my insurance paid up to $500 not affecting my premium. helps if you have zero or low deductible. |

can someone please confirm this...the place i took my car to get the alignment done told me that in this model car the entire rack and pinion needs to be taken out in order for the inner tie rod to be replaced. basically they would have to take the rack and pinion down, and send out to be rebuilt and put everything back together.
I am no master mechanic dude, but that sounds really odd to have to do all that for a part that is normal wear and tear and is bound to bend to be replaced in that way.... |

No need to remove the rack, it's pretty much identical to the 350Z.
There's a good walk through of the procedure on that 350 site. Title is "Tein inner and outer tie rod replacement". Just google "nissan 350z inner tie rod replacement" and it should be your first link.

thanks for all the feed back guys, I tackled this one over the weekend. Deff an easy job, much easier if you have a lift. but a jack and jack stand would do to.
Took the car for an alignment right after, she is back on the read ;c). |
