Brake Rotors Matching?
Hello Z Fam, Wishing you all well during these crazy times.
I will be upgrading my brakes soon, and was thinking about getting the Z1 2 piece front rotors, but getting slotted (non 2 piece) rotors in the rear... Would there be an issue with having lighter rotors in the front or mis matching rotors in general? Appreciate the advice, help in advance! Sorry for the noob question lol... First time doing new brakes on my Z.

During my base model akebono upgrade I stripped the threading on one of the calipers with the banjo bolt. Of course it was the last one so I already had the other three akebonos on. I left the other three sport calipers on, and reverted the front passenger wheel to the base caliper (which also included putting the smaller base-model rotor back on) and bled them. I expected to encounter some pulling to one side during braking, but I could not feel any difference. I worked up the nerve to do some pretty hard panic stops and didn't have any problems. I drove that way longer than I'll admit here.
All this to say that while it may not be ideal, you'll be fine. Last edited by dts3; 05-04-2020 at 06:04 PM. |

Nope. You should be fine as long as the fronts match as a pair and the rears match as a pair.
