Front Brake Cooling Revamp
Figured I'd share my progress on fixing up my brake system for better cooling/ style points. My system had a few small issues that I wanted to fix.
1. Bigger duct with better routing 2. Better protection for SS brake line 3. New backing plates At first I was going to try to fit a 3in tube to the back of the rotor like I had my 2in tube previously but there was so much dead cooling space going to the back rotor face versus going towards the hub. My calipers were away getting powider coated when I had the idea to cool from the front so when they got back I worked up a rough visualization and it looks like the front will work way better! My backing plate is a tad bit heavier than the oem one but it is thicker too. Since I don't need to attach a tube to it anymore I may make it out of a thinner material or aluminum as well. Will update as I have more progress. Anyone think I should worry about cooling rears too? |

I wouldn't have thought there would be enough room to fit a duct inside the caliper at the front end of the rotor. That's pretty awesome.
Did you previously having cooling ducts set up (like stillen's kit) and found the 2" diameter tubing not being enough? I've only tracked with upgrade pads and fluid and only my fronts have been stressed, heat-wise. Rears have been fine. But I also don't expect to need more than 2" diameter ducting for a long time. Removing the dust shields should help a bit, too.

the new ones i made only cover the open area around the rotor hat.
my inlet wasn't that great at the bumper so that might've been part of the issue but hoping to strengthen the setup. im on nt01's with xp12/10s Last edited by MinionZ; 04-23-2018 at 05:44 PM. |

Would you consider creating a small run of these? I could use a bit more cooling on mine as well. Maybe route the fronts down to my Zspeed undertray.

I need a set also. I have the Finite element Design Carbon Fiber Nismo inlets, I need to get a 3in. backing plate to do my install. I either have to make
some or buy some. |
