Rear bushing noise?
I have been having noise from the passenger side rear. I thought maybe it was the sway bar bushings, but after greasing them, the noise is still there. Everything on the suspension is tight, not sure where the noise is coming from? Is there a bushing that could be making this noise.

Sounds like a rubber squeak. See you have Hotchkis sway bars. Where the bushing rides on the bar. Wrap that area with white teflon pipe tape. Then smear grease over the tape and inside the bushing. This is what I did with mine.

I had some time to look into this noise some more. I removed the sway bar bushing and the noise didn't change. I noticed the noise to be coming higher up, so I pulled the wheel and started looking at all the bushings and connections. I took a floor jack and placed it under the spring bucket and compressed the suspension and located the noise at the top of the shock. Not at the mount, but on the shock itself, where the shaft enters the shock. I tried spraying it with white lithium grease and compressed it a couple time to work it over the shock shaft and it didn't help. I think it is internal to the shock. Most likely I will have to replace it.

Take the shock off and stroke it by hand. Do it in a couple of positions. Like the top at 12, 3, and 6 o:clock.

The shock is the problem. I removed the shock and the noise is gone when I compress the suspension. If I compress the shock while off the car, it makes noise. It doesn't show any sign of leaking, has plenty of pressure and returns as it should, it just make noise. I have already been in touch with Charles at Powertrix and working on a replacement.

Squeaky seal? If so, you don't see too many of them.

Just an update. Charles sent a replacement and even covered return shipping. Excellent service! New shock in place and all is good.

Rusty, thanks for the tip. My front Hotchkis bar has been squeaking from day one in certain situations. Tried re-greasing to no avail. Saw your trick, added the teflon tape and no more squeak at all.
