Default Brakes squeal

Hi Forum
I have a 2011 370Z with only 41,000 miles on it. My brakes squeal when I apply the brakes lightly, like approaching a stop light. I thought it was the audible wear sensors so I had my brakes inspected by my mechanic. The brakes checked fine with @ 50% of the pads left. He said he "scuffed" the rotors to see if that would eliminate the squeal. It did not.
I would appreciate any input on how to eliminate the brake squeal. It's annoying and it takes away from the driving experience every time I apply the brakes. I appreciate your help. Mark

Find an appropriate spot and bed your brakes. If 2-3 runs doesn't fix the squeal, you probably need new pads.

Is it a grinding squeal or high pitch needle squeal. You may not here a major distinction but there is a difference.

One means low heat, the other means your pad is worn out (unevenly possibly) or have deposits stuck in the pads. This is usually a factor with cheap pads or high metallic pads.

The Z OEM brake pads seem to have a tendency to wear unevenly. Thus, try bedding your brakes, so see if that helps.

Also brake anti-squeal works great.

Thanks for your replies. The brakes are OEM all around. The first 30,000 miles I didn't drive my Z every day because I worked from home. The last 10,000 miles I have driven my Z every day. I don't know if that would be a factor or not. I will try "bedding the brakes" as suggested. I re-post when I know the outcome.

I have seen pads start to squeal when they reach about 50% life. The cure I found was taking the pads off and slightly beveling the edge of the pad (like most new pads are). That may help but if you are going through that much work, just change to some good aftermarket pads. Lots to choose from!

I have pulled mine off & scrubbed them in a figure-8 on flat concrete surface;to knock off glazing.
Inspect & clean your hardware.
If you're having to pay for this; may be cheaper to get new pads-Like TBatt say's.
