Brake Pad Paint Peel
For my last track day, I installed Hawk DTC-60 pads. They did not come with shims and, I installed them that way. They were bedded in by doing 80-30 mph braking intervals until I experienced fade.
On the track they felt great. Initial bite was forceful and immediate. Afterwards, I swapped to my street setup (EBC RedStuff). I noticed the Hawk pads' paint were cracking and peeling. I'm wondering if OEM shims or TI shims would help with this. I'm concerned about excessive heat transfer to the pistons, boot, and seals.

The paint will crack and peel on any brake pad if hot enough like BGTV8 has said. Shims will help keeping some of the heat out of the calipers. I use these.

Thanks for the feedback, BGTV8 and Rusty. Being new to road courses, it's good to know things are behaving as expected.
Rusty, I was lookig at those Ti shims just before posting. They are tempting as the OEM shims are already $60 a set. Which thickness did you go with?
