Sport Springs Plus Nismo Dampers?
I replaced the springs/shocks on my 2009 sports with a barely used set of 2017 Nismo springs/shocks. It's pretty awesome for aggressive driving but it's pretty bouncy and abusive on the highway and kind of sketchy on mid speed corners with bad pavement. Just not as compliant. I'm curious to try the nismo shocks with my sport springs to see what the ride is like. Anyone tried this? Is the damping a decent fit for the softer sport springs?

I'm interested in the swifts because they seem like a good compromise with the soft/hard progressive spring rate but I'm really curious about the setup I mentioned. For example how do the Nismo damping rates compare to Koni yellows, etc

So I recency just installed the Nismo S-tune spring shock setup on my Z, and its the same setup that comes with the factory Nismo. The car felt much more positive but I wasn't happy either with the bouncy ride. What I did was put the sport springs back in the rear. Which helped with the bounce issue and the handling was not effected.
A good set of performance shocks are always a good improvement. The Nismo shocks are made by Tokico. The Koni yellows are not much better. in fact I had them on my GT Mustang and I didn't like them. Went to Bilstiens. which is a nice shock but a little pricey but they worked better with the car and the springs. The right way to do it is have a performance shock builder re-valve the shock according to the spring rate you want to put in the car, but your talking some some bucks. and for a street car its just not worth it. |

Great info Boss. I had thought about trying the rear swap myself but didn't know if it would upset the balance. I like to experiment so I'll give it a try until I can go after a better quality spring/shock setup.
