Default Steering rack issue/replacment

So I went to my local shop and they said the steering rack needed to be replaced on my 2010 370z. They quoted 2.5 hours of labor. What model years steering racks are compatible with 2010? I know next to nothing about this so any insight or reccomendations would be great.

Im probably going to go with a remanufactied unit because of price and warranty. This is were im looking to order from (3 year warrany):

I just had mine replaced a few months ago. Under warranty though. Nissan wanted $900 just for the part, and the warranty company said they could source a new one for less than half that. I had the dealer check it out and make sure it was brand new Nissan OEM equipment. Sure enough it was. Sorry I can't provide any information on the source, but you can call Mercury and try to ask them though I'm not sure how helpful they'll be.

You have a ~6 year warranty? Thanks for the heads up its worth a call.

So the guy at the shop recommended replacing the inner tie rods first and seeing if that fixes it. I forgot to ask the price and if that doesn't fix it I'll be shelling out for a steering rack anyway.

I forgot to mention I got rear ended by someone on the freeway there was a good impact but I was fine. I was stopped with my foot on the brake and the car behind me got pushed into me; the only apparent damage was a few scratches to the bumper. Could this cause problems with the rack and pinion unit and/or tie rods?

7 year/100K mile warranty (not through Nissan). Our Z is nearing 90K miles after 6 years of daily driving between me and my wife.

Wish I had gotten something like that I just shelled out 5 thousand for a used AT transmission.

To resurrect an old thread, did you guys determine if all of the Z34 steering racks are the same?

My research indicates there is a difference between 2009-2014 model years and 2015+ model years.

There is also a difference between base model trim and sport/Nismo trims.

Do you have info. regarding differences?

Dimensions, ratio, mounting points etc. Wondering if they're all compatible and whether not one is an upgrade over another.
