My understanding is that changing pad compounds (i.e. ceramic to metallic) on the same rotors requires reconditioning of the rotor surface. I've heard some guys just scuff it up with

I've heard some guys just scuff it up with sandpaper, although I've never done it and don't know what grit they use.
