Opinions on my rotors, por favor!
So noticed my rotors (14,500 miles) have started to get grooves, but only the left side. I can run my fingernail down the and it will catch. Should I get them resurfaced, new pads or let them be? Have noticed slight shaking on the left side to when braking but also a little while driving. May need a slight alingment, stupid roads. Thanks all! rotor1.jpg

My opinion, if it's not causing any vibration or noise, don't worry about it. I get those all the time. Your pads may be running thin and the rivets may be starting to rub. Maybe not too. Sometimes it's just a piece of metal in the semi-metallic pads. Could be a small pebble got in there too. I just run till the rivets start making the grinding noise. Then bring it all back to spec with new pads and rotors. I change rotors since I wear the heck out of them with the XP8 pads.

Your swept area, thus your braking force, is reduced slightly. SLIGHTLY.

We have to constantly and consistently bed-in the pads and rotors. That's the first plan of action. Our rotors need a grey color on them. I just bought brake motive rotors and stoptech pads and braided lines.

Hard spots in the pad and rivets usually cause just one groove. My guess is that you've got some trash embedded in the pad that is hard enough to eat away the rotor. If it were me, I'd resurface the pad(s) and rotor (or replace them if worn bad enough). I have heard of problems like this resolving themselves but, in most case, it just gets worse.

I'll probably just leave as is until I replace the pads or inspect the pads and see if there is any junk on them. OR, just wait till I upgrade rotors, pads and lines. We shall see.

A while back i took the wheels off and noticed a pebble in between the pad and rotor. After removing it i still am getting shaking/pulling on the left side. Perhaps resurface rotor?

While resurfacing may work, OEM-spec rotors are not expensive. Just get a new rotor.
