Brake caliper for 18" OEM's?
I have 19"s for the summer and 18's for winter and the track. So I'd really like to keep clearance for the OEM 18's.
Is there a caliper upgrade from the Akebono... which would have an effect on the track? I have Stillen brake cooling ducts - and - 2-piece rotors

my stoptech trophy brakes fit under 18s just fine and are a huge upgrade.

If you go with StopTech just remember to get the 14" rotors like mine and you should be good to go. I got the 14" rotor so that I could run 18" rims for track purposes later. StopTech 4P Front & Rear BKK Install

Yeah that's what i'm worried about.
I'd like NOT to have to buy new rotors along with my upgraded calipers. Because at that point, it's just a BBKit.

I feel ya on that one. I've always tried to avoid incremental mods and go for the final mod in the hopes in avoiding situations like this. Hasn't always worked. In the end it might be easier to with a BBK than trying to upgrade what you have. You could always sell your DBA-5000 rotors.

There are apparently OEM replacement calipers in the upgraded category!!
----------------------------------------------------- Brembo 6-piston caliper: $2,100 - includes lines / brackets - pads Part #: 1N0.8002A2 We don't know if they'll clear the OEM 18's however. ----------------------------------------------------- Choice #2 Price: $3,000 Stoptech 6-piston BBK with 355mm / 14" rotors -----------------------------------------------------

1. the caliper has to be removed to change the pads, there is no removable bridge on them, a real pain in the butt. 2. without extensive grinding of the edges, they will not clear 18s (at least 350z Rays 18s) 3. In conjunction with stock rear akebonos, you will wear out rear pads 3 sets for every one set of fronts and they aren't very well balanced for the track. I speak from experience

Mike talking about front to rear balance gave me another concern. The StopTech front BBK is balanced with the rear BBK. The caliper and rotor for the StopTech rear BBK are bigger than the stock Akebono’s. I think you might have a similar issue to what Mike had with the Brembro calipers if run just the front StopTechs.

if you go stoptech, I would go with the 14" rotor kit in front. thats what I have, and what you would need for 18" wheels anyway
