Caliper covers?

Does anybody use these on their Z cars? Not sure if they look too plastic or cheap. Is this a better option than painting and having dirty calipers. insight please...

I wouldn't do it. They're like hub caps for your brakes. Looks cheap and fake, anyone could spot them. You're better off painting the calipers.

They have some pretty decent ones that are made of metal and look great, you just have to do a search for them. Don't paint base calipers, looks worse than cheap covers IMO, painted Chiclets is what I see when I look at them.

I think painting them black at least is better than the stock metal look.

I would NOT do it. They look cheap and pretty bad. Buy a big brake kit or used sport brakes.

The sorta matted silver color of the unpainted caliper blends in with the rotor's color.

Painting it any other color accentuates the fact that its base brake calipers, that they don't "look cool", not bling enough, that the car is not a sports pkg car.

To me, that just further reminds the owner of the eye sore that prompted the idea of covering up the caliper in the first place.

Skinny dude wearing a muscle shirt, just makes him look skinnier, not more muscular.

My opinion.

Everyone doesn't have $2000 for a new BBK and if the OP wants to substitute for covers instead, then there's nothing wrong with that. Like i said, there are some out there that look great and either way they look better than just painting the stock base calipers which IMO "look horrible".

before I cut down my powdercoating business, people would ask for a quote to powdercoat them, and I refused that work. Those things are hideous garbage. Not to mention they trap heat in.

There is certainly something wrong with pretending you have something when you really don't. Caliper covers are just as bad as having fake BOV sounds from the motor. I wouldn't even touch the OEM floating calipers, except when replacing pads or rotors.
